There might not be many cars more beautiful than this blue Aston Martin DB5 Vantage.

Both the Espada and the DB5 will be auctioned in Monaco, respectively estimated at 300.000 € and 900.000 €.

The shot

First time ever trying to apply fake path blur on a picture. Although this one was pretty easy (orignal is a moving shot AND going in a straight line), it’s definitely tricky to get the right amount of blur and make it a believable image.

One thing is for sure, I’ll probably never try this tool on a static car : shadows, wheels, reflections… nope nope nope.

  • Step 1 : first color retouching with Lightroom (I wanted to do this before any further action. It might be just me, but I think it feels more satisfying working on a slightly processed image.)
  • Step 2 : heading to Photoshop for masking around the car and blur vector (not such a pain as I thought !)
  • Step 3 : Final retouching with Photoshop.

Time : ~4 hours
